Meet Food Network Star Jeff Mauro
January 26, 2012
Jan. 18, 2011—Elmwood Park’s Jeff Mauro, host of Food Network’s television show "Sandwich King,” will give a cooking demonstration at Concordia University Chicago’s “Concordia Gets Cookin’” fundraising event.
Chef Mauro knows his way around the kitchen and is quite familiar with the essence of Chicago cooking and dining. He earned his fame on the “Food Network Star season 7” television show, where he was crowned the winner.
Currently, Mauro hosts his own Food Network show “Sandwich King,” where he travels throughout the Chicagoland area and the United States to showcase local sandwich favorites. A local celebrity, Mauro is from Elmwood Park.
Mauro will host a live demonstration, cooking some of his favorite dishes and sharing his culinary treats with the audience during “Concordia Gets Cookin.’” Novice and expert cookers alike are invited to watch Chef Mauro in-action on March 3 at 7 p.m. at the state-of-the-art Auditorium and Bisazza Kitchen on Kendall College’s campus.
The fundraising event is hosted by Concordia’s Foundation Board, a group of volunteers dedicated to furthering the University’s mission through generating philanthropic support. Proceeds from this event with benefit Concordia’s endowment for student financial aid.
“We are truly honored to have Jeff Mauro to be a part of our charity event,” said Suzanne Farrell, Concordia board member. “This is a great opportunity for Concordia University Chicago to work with a local community member and national star to benefit our students.”
Limited tickets are available at $225, which includes cocktails, Mauro’s demonstration, dinner and a silent auction. The ticket price includes a $61 tax-deductible gift. Tickets must be purchased by Feb. 7 and are available online at www.CUChicago.edu/cooking.
